Sun, Jun 02, 2002 (Mon Jun 03, 2002 in Oz)

The storm continued yesterday into the night. I would call it gale force winds, they are used to it and say they are just heavy winds. The rain came down in sheets at times. If in Spokane the street would have been a river and soon backed up at the sewer entries on each corner. What we would call a gully washer. They have their sewer system set up to take it with no problems.

We woke up this morning to a still strong, but warmer winds than last night, and it has kept up all day. Rain has let up and only rained once in a while, and never like yesterday. They say the coast south of here is very bad winds and rain still. Being stormy we stayed home today. The area where we planned to go is in bad storms yet.

We took a drive to town, stopping at the RACQ, their auto club similar to our AAA. (Royal Automobile Club of Queensland) We were looking for maps of Australia, for me to take home. Were not able to find too many.

Joy purchased me one book of maps of all of Australia, which will be wonderful to have, however it does not break the states up into shires. We also visited the Caloundra Shire Council and the library, finding very little to help us.

Last we went to the Big Pineapple to look around. This is a pineapple plantation which has set up a business to cater to tourists as well. It has stores, a restaurant and a train a peraon can ride to view all the areas of the plantation. I shopped a bit and we ate lunch.
